Everytime I upgrade to a new version of LR I try Aperture, I tend to find it struggles badly on my Mac Mini - Lightroom doesn't set the world on fire in terms of performance - but it works.
For me LR is a more polished application, I have no issues with the interface (used it from Beta version) or the need to switch from Library to Develop modules.

I have a wall in my room that is slowly beginning to be covered by AOL CD's (and other similar junk CD's).
I just tape them up with two-sided foam tape. Makes a nice wallpaper.

you can always downgrade, unless there's something in 4.3.1 you really need.
Do you know by any chance how to downgrade?

I hadn't bought a physical book in a long time. I always by e-books. They're much more easily searchable than physical books, I can cross-reference with a click on a hyperlink, I don't have to wait or pay for shipped (which to Australia can be more than the cost of the book), and I don't have to find a place to physically store it.
The only issue would be if you need to access the book side-by-side with your work. This isn't a problem for me because I have 2 large screens. If you only have one smallish screen, then this may be an issue. Unless you have an iPad and can view the book on the iPad while you work. ;)

I feel like apple should have let the people who actually got to preorder pick up today, to lower the crowds. Also the people who have reserved phones that are camping are morons. Your gettig it as long as you show up, why waste a whole night up? The answer to play with it all day makes no sense because most of us already have os4 and in reality once you play with FaceTime and the new camera it's not that different.

Premiere will use the other cores, but for me i'd rather 4/6 cores with a higher clock speed and the matrox compressHD card, than a more expensive 8/12 core machine, with lower clock speed and no budget left for the compress card.
I understand. I'm honestly thinking of purchasing an iMac (after the refresh). I'll add the maximum amount of Ram (or atleast 16GB) and get the best processor from the Apple Website. I think that will be the best option for me. If I become unhappy, I'll sell my iMac or return it within the 30 Day Mark.

I have never used a Samsung drive, nor do I know anybody who has. Do they actually make their own? Or do they get drives relabeled from another company?
I am not 100% sure but I think they make their own, Samsung is actually a brand that makes lots of things that are put inside other people's products, e.g. the memory for the iPod nano.
I have 2 maxtor drives, one western digital and one samsung, the samsung is the only one that didn't get noiser with time, it is 20Gb and at least 5 years old, it looks identical externaly to the need ones, I guess the new ones should have improvements to make then even quiter and more reliable (i'm guessing).

The new Final Cut Pro X will take full advantage of all cores and as much RAM as you can throw at it.
Its fully optimized for OpenCL, Grand Central Dispatch, and is native 64-bit. Pair a 12-core with 64 GB of RAM and a wicked OpenCL-compatible graphics card and you'll have a monster FCP machine.

I am (was) working on a new guide for the "Macrumors" section,
http://guides.macrumors.com/Reply_with_multiple_quotes
when it was moved to the "Ugly Guides" section without warning, or without any feedback (HexMonkey).
When you do something like this on a guide someone has lots of time involved in, please be proactive and explain why, and offer an explanation on what needs to be fixed.
Thanks!

I've recently installed a 2.33ghz c2d chip in my old 1.66 cd mac mini. The performance boost has been great!
I've noticed temps have gotten a little high while running encodes and such... around low - mid 90s C while handbrake is encoding. I know this is still within operating temperature, but i'd like them to be a little lower.
I managed to keep the plastic clips from breaking while installing my cpu. I've been thinking about replacing the nylon clips with some nylon screws, like others have mentioned.
My question, Do people use the springs that came with the clips when installing the screws? Or do people just screw the heatsink down snug to the cpu without the springs?
Thanks,
Would any OEM C2D chip work?

Hi there,
I bought a 128gb ssd, which is totally fine for me since I store all the data that I don't need on the road on my external harddrive.
However, I would like to play some games every now and then, which leads me to the problem that I need Windows for that.
I managed to free up 30gb, but that's not enough for Windows 7 with a decent game.
Now I read online that it is possible to install BootCamp on an external HDD. How can I do that? There are so many different guides that say different things, I don't really understand them.

General Sentiment is part of an elite team of Mercenary Ex-Servicemen who reside in the shadows of the Los Angeles Underground. The full contingent is:
General Sentiment (Responsible for monitoring morale)
Major Improvement (Morale Uplifts)
Admiral Butterfly (Aesthetics)
Corporal Punishment (Deals with those who lower morale)
Private Practice (deals with those unfortunate enough to have faced Corporal Punishment)
and finally...
Seaman Staines (added to the team only to provide Murdock-style comedy value at the end of each scene).
I'm shocked you have forgotten Colonel Panic, who has been known to stop computers dead with his amazing multi-lingual skills.

Can someone make rainbow "Don't Tread On Me" flags? I think it would be a brilliant way to show Republican hypocrisy on their calls for smaller government, yet they think government should regulate who and who cannot marry based on, well, nothing.

When traveling to Europe, don't only go to the "tourist" areas, take the time to walk or explore around the cities outside the tourist zones.
When I was in Prague, I found a really cool air history museum (with lots of Russian jets and MIGs which would be harder to find in the USA) but it was way outside the tourist zone and I think it was good to get a feel for how the city really was.

Since you still have Applecare left, its not a sad thing, apart from your data loss on HDD .. this one is quite regrettable :)
You are eligible to grab the new iMac .. with Radeon 6 series GPU!! Why do you sad? Call Apple Store, arrange an appointment, and get your iMac there
Go home and enjoy your new iMac!!
Well the reason is, :apple: dont want to repair your old iMac either, since they hesitant to do so, they have to prepare their old stock of Nvidia 8800 chip and have to deal with it. I say they wont try to repair it.
Like I said, Its a nice thing to happen :)
