    So your assertation is that since nature takes a long time to make changes on it's own, any changes we make much faster will be OK. That makes sense, insomuch as now i know that the anti-global-warming people just aren't applying any logic anymore.

    My thoughts exaclty.
    Sdashiki, when people talk about global warming, they usually don't refer to the phenomenon per se (which is a natural process that changes climate slowly over thousands of years), but to the part of it that is caused by human activities (which is a rapid change of climate due to the emission of greenhouse gases).

    from a scientific (NOT environmentalist) point of view cant be proven
    Well that's interesting, but "actual" scientists mostly agree that it is real (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming):

    The scientific opinion on climate change, as expressed by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and explicitly endorsed by the national science academies of the G8 nations, is that the average global temperature has risen 0.6 0.2 C since the late 19th century, and that "most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is attributable to human activities",

    Anyway, what can't be easily proven is that these hurricanes are related to global warming, not that global warming is taking place.

    There shouldn't be any qualitative difference btwn DV files imported on older / newer machines and the import from tape is in real-time, so an old machine will crank away just as well as anything. The new machine will make a big difference when actually transcoding, editing, and exporting.

    Seconded. No need to wait.

    I've had a similar experience on several occasions, most recently today. I have my inbox sorted by date received, with newest mail at the top, but for some reason new mail (received 'Today') will be at the bottom. Mail received 'Yesterday' will be at the top.

    My message counter (in the dock icon) will indicate new mail, but when I look for it (at the top of my date-sorted list), it won't be there. I have to scroll down to the bottom of the list, and there, below the oldest of my already-read e-mails, is my new mail.

    It may be a lack of scope or focus. For example, I almost started a "using Gmail with Mail.app" article, but, you know, Google maintains such an article. Why not link to that? There are several other guides out on the net from various sources. Do we re-author them?

    What warrants creating a new guide and what does not?

    Do you use software for longer?

    Are you using different software?

    How often is often?

    Are there any repeat offenders?

    Are you doing different things now?

    Your description is incredibly vague.

    If applications are crashing, that may or may not have anything to do with Snow Leopard.

    Nope

    Nope

    Couple times a week

    Steam, iTunes, and the iWork apps come to mind

    Nope

    Where you define the code, you need to put in classname::functionname

    Do this for every function you define. This need not be done if you are within the class declaration.

    void login::find()
    {
    ifstream file;
    file.open("file.txt");

    string input=inputusername;
    string input_line;
    bool found = false;

    while( file >> input_line ) {
    if( input_line.compare(input) == 0 ) {
    cout << "The name " << input_line << " was found in file.\n";
    found = true;
    break;
    }
    }

    Although I personally agree with you guys and what you say about babelfishes translation being brutal. I know for a fact if I can make this work my bosses will be happy.

    Yeah it's incorrect and in-accurate but if the GM goes "hey great job" thats the best I can hope for as appose to "we need to build 4 separate sites, one for each language"

    you should try wordpress + flickr.

    both are free, and once set up, you can snap pix on your cell phone and send them to a special email address that will automatically post them to your wordpress blog.

    easy, breezy, beautiful.

    Didn't see this posted yet, I would hate to be on the Comair plane as it gets whipped around.The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the collision of an Airbus A-380 and a smaller plane at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

    Air France Flight 7, bound for Paris, was taxiing on a runway Monday night when its left wingtip struck the tail of Comair Flight 6293, which had just landed from Boston and was taxiing to its gate at Kennedy, one of the nation's busiest airports.

    There were no injuries.

    Both planes were being inspected Tuesday. Pilots and crew will also be interviewed.

    Passenger Lawrence Grotts was on board the Air France plane.

    "It really felt just like a speedbump or like hitting a pothole -- a jolt -- but it didn't feel right ... like that shouldn't be happening," he said.

    The NTSB said it has requested the flight recorders and will review air traffic control tapes and what is known as ground radar data.

    The double-deck Airbus A-380 had 495 passengers and 25 crew members on board, Air France said in a statement. The Comair CRJ 700 Regional Jet had 62 passengers and four crew members.

    "This incident only caused material damage to the two aircraft," Air France said. The airline said it is assisting the NTSB.

    Maxine Lubner, chair of the aviation department at Vaughn College, said communication could have been a problem.

    "When the plane, the A-380, was on the taxiway, Alpha, it's under FAA control," she said. "The regional jet may have already been switched to the company's frequency."

    Lubner said the Air France pilots should have been able to see the smaller aircraft.

    @blevins321:

    Thanks for the suggestion, it's very useful. I've already done that for my dad, and it works when he saves contacts through the contacts app.

    The main issue is that Apple has made it (rightfully so) very intuitive to save a contact from the dialer or recent-calls menu. all you have to do is click the right-arrow and you'll be able to "add to contacts", which dumps it into the iphone-contacts folder, instead of exchange, regardless of the default contact view in the contacts app.

    I myself don't add contacts through the contacts app, as I normally key in the number in the dialer then hit the "+" button to create a contact :/

    Analogy withstanding, he does have a point. The Yankees have ignored Torre as part of their legacy ever since their nasty parting back in 2007.

    The Yankees are doing the same with in regards to the Old Stadium.

    Any of the new iMacs are more than enough. If you look at the top end card they put in the MBP its the same 6750M in the low end iMac. The only difference is the low end iMac has 1/2 the VRAM.

    And that is not to put the MBPs down. The 15"ers will serve you well too. The major factors in my mind are, portability vs. extra speed, and ease of repairs. The iMacs are faster and offer more bang for the buck but if the internal HD dies its a PITA to replace yourself. OTOH the MBPs provide less value but replacing an internal drive is just a screwdriver and torxdriver away.

    Also I even tried restoring twice into earlier OS X Lion backups but that didn't even work :/ :(

    I had a similar problem with Lion DP1. I erased the HD with Apples Disk Utility and reinstalled Lion DP1. However, the safe boot works usually in the final versions of Mac OS X.
